A lot of people make new year resolutions at the start of a new year, some people make their vision boards, some set new goals. However, not everyone works towards their goals and accomplish them. Some give up on their goals, new year resolutions before the end of the first quarter. I want to encourage you to keep on keeping on, don’t give up on your goals this year 2017. Work towards achieving them, get accountability partners if you have to and make sure you achieve what you set your hearts to do. What health and fitness goals have you set for yourself? Make it your lifestyle and be easy on yourself, one step at a time, you will reach your goals! Below are some health tips that can be useful in your healthy lifestyle journey:
Pay close attention to what you eat. You can keep a food diary and note what you eat and drink.
Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables.
Drink lots of water, whenever you are thirsty or feel like having a drink, take clean water instead of soda or alcohol drinks.
Have enough sleep. Most people need an average of 7-9hrs of sleep nightly. Research shows that there is a relationship between lack of sleep and weight gain.
If you want to lose weight, reduce a few calories each day and aim to loose 1 pound a week. Reduce caloric intake by 500 daily for a week and you lose 1lb that week!
Exercise regularly at least 30 minutes a day for 5 days a week, however, always consult your doctor first before you start any exercise routine. If you have not been exercising regularly, you can start with 10 minutes of walking a day and then increase duration gradually.
Your families and friends are a good source of support, you can involve them in your exercise routine or healthy lifestyle journey. This will help you a lot if you need accountability. You can join an exercise club, go for a walk with your spouse or friends. Dance to your favorite songs, just move your body!
Finally, never give up! Be easy on yourself and take one day at a time.
